BASIC Tactical Operator Course
February 23-27 2026

This APOSTC approved forty-hour Basic Tactical Operators Course (BTOC) “SWAT School” is being made available for FREE through the Alabama Tactical Officers Association (ATOA). This iteration of ATOA BTOC is designed and aimed at small and rural departments, preferably with a sworn staff under 30, but is not a necessary requirement. The class slots will be available on a scholarship basis with ATOA board approval for each student.

This course will include an initial PT Assessment then training on: Tactical Officer Mindset, SWAT Equipment, Tactical Communications, Perimeter Operations, Application of CQB, Room Entry and Clearing, Breaching, Advanced Weapon Skills, Helicopter and Drone Integration, and a Final Field Training Exercise. Students will also earn a certification through CTS on both Chemical Munitions and Distraction Devices

EQUIPMENT LIST:
Wrap around eye protection, Hearing protection
Tactical vest , belt w/ holster, gloves, ballistic helmet
Gas Mask w/ oc/cs filter
Duty pistol, 3 magazines – 300 Rounds Pistol Ammunition:
Duty rifle, 3 magazines, 300 Rounds Rifle Ammunition
Season weather clothing (Rain gear, changes of clothes, etc…) 

This course is approved by APOSTC to meet current Alabama BTOC curriculum and standards.
