Spring Training Session 04 Gadsden, AL RBR & R The ATOA Spring Session started with a stutter-step as our Active Shooter Instructors from Gadsden PD became unavailable at the last minute. Rather than short-change the attendees, Mario Martinez agreed to take on the task of conducting both the Active Shooter and the Shield Instructor block. While this made more work for him, it gave the attendees the opportunity to receive two blocks of training when they were only signed up for one. Our thanks goes out to Mario for picking up the slack for us in a crunch. The training blocks went well with plenty of range time and a good showing of vendors. The vendors included: RBR Tactical, MAC Uniform, Lightfighter Tactical, Ring & Associates, Tactical Gear Command and Astech. Tactical Medic Block Chief Chuck Wingate, DR Brad Gosdin and LT Robbie Miller (Hoover SRT SWAT Medics) conducted the tactical medic training. The training was well received and covered topics such as: tactical medic duties, victim assessment, victim evacuation, room entry, use of smoke for concealment and advanced medical techniques.
Off Duty Wings & Things The after hours party at the hotel quickly became a contest of door prizes between the vendors. Various knives, flashlights and gloves were given out. When the body armor came out the crowd was in a door prize frenzy. Various feats of strength and challenges intermixed with war stories and embellished exploits to make the party a success. |
