From the ATOA Chaplain January 2010
Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is
ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called
me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 3:13-14 (NIV)
I recently saw this quote, "No one can go
back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new
ending" (Unknown). I really began to think about that statement. The
conclusion was that we don't start over; but we begin again right where we
are, making things better in our lives. Maybe your new beginning is to be
healthier for the New Year or maybe like me you are waiting for a Federal
job to come available and make that 1,000 mile move. Whatever the changes
maybe for you and your family, may we reflect on the previous year’s
accomplishments and mistakes. Let us all make the decision to be a better
and more productive Employee, Spouse, Parent and Christian this year than
ever before.
Let us
remember that our reputation is what people perceive us to be, but our
character is what we truly are.
I encourage everyone to stay motivated in their SWAT
training, PT (bigger, faster, and stronger), Education of all things SWAT
and most of all their Spiritual commitment to Christ.
Be safe, train hard,

2011 Almighty
God, you made man, government, and laws. It
is the reason we stand together before You.
We acknowledge that without you we are nothing and we cannot do
anything. Today,
we are bound by the same passion and resolve to see those that uphold the law,
protect our communities, to see fit that our people might live and thrive in
peace and prosperity under Your will and watch. We
lift to You today the families and friends of Officer Justin Sollohub and the
Aniston PD and Officer Trevor Philips of the Tuscaloosa PD as you comfort them
and give them that serenity knowing two of these fine officers have served
their communities and loved their family and friends sincerely until You
promoted them. We
thank you and lift to You the hardworking leadership of ATOA and all its
training partners as we gather in this event to hone and sharpen these law
enforcement officers for Your glory and honor. With
gratitude and honor we thank Thee for those who they have sacrificed and
devoted their life and blood to be peacemakers and protect and fight for what
is right and just. And
most of all we pray for the men and women standing strong and proud before us.
May Your protection and blessings be upon them. Still their hearts and hands
into becoming a better minister of peace and order. Finally,
we stand together before You desiring to exalt righteousness and lead our
nation and people in the straight and narrow way.
Lord, you said that “wide is the gate and broad is the way which
leadeth to destruction and many there be which go in thereat, but straight is
the gate and narrow is the way which leadeth unto life and few there be that
find it.” Lord, you claimed,
that “You are the Way, the Truth, and the Life, no man cometh unto the
Father but by You.” And so I
pray, that we collectively stand to follow You but we kneel individually in
our hearts to personally know You and ask You to be our own personal Saviour
and Lord. We ask
this in the only name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen. DR
