 Tactical Operations Conference '11

After Action Review

With the return to the our tried and true Tactical Operations Conference format, the men of the Muscle Shoals and Florence PD's conducted a great conference! The weather was on our side (remember the TOC07 mud?), the training sites were close by, the venue was perfect & our hosts went above and beyond on their planning and execution of both the Tactical Team Tournament and the blocks they conducted (ask any Sniper Course attendee).

  • Remembering the Fallen

The ATOA remembered the fallen SWAT Officers of Alabama with a memorial table. Officer Justin Sollohub, Anniston PD and Trevor Phillips, Tuscaloosa PD were lost this year. We remember and honor their service.

  • Vendor Show

The full room of Velcro and black nylon was just what the guys needed. Our Corporate Members went all out with door prizes and the hospitality room.

Somebody got a Colt...somebody got a Glock...same agency...investigation concludes no shenanigans.

  • Clay County Incident Debrief-

Buffalo (Jason) and Papa T (Tony) brought on an awesome presentation of preparation, mental toughness and staying in the fight when faced with a critical injury during an operation. Their comedic back and forth and from the heart message struck a cord with all in the room.

  • TEES Dignitary Protection Course

This course presented the skills necessary to plan and execute a close protection mission to protect a dignitary, prisoner or witness who may have a threat against themselves or the entity they represent. Additionally it focused on drills that can be expected if a department was called upon to support Secret Service or Department of State security details. This program was geared towards operations in a permissive environment and involve both theory and extensive practical exercises.

The aim of this three day course was introduce the students to  operationally proven drills and procedures in order to effectively breach wood and metal doors with surgically calculated explosive breaching charges.

Comments from feedback form:

"The instructor was well prepared and conducted an outstanding training block.  The
final event that was linked with the Hostage Rescue class was a great practical
application for the breacher's course."

  • TEES Hostage Rescue

The aim of this course was to pass on time tested and operationally proven tactics to educate a new team or further enhance an existing teams’ capability to operate in high risk environments. Skills relevant to hostage rescue, high risk warrants and the execution of raids was covered.

  • Entry Team Workshop-Muscle Shoals PD

This course gave teams the opportunity to use their tactics and fine tune team skills. The cross loading of tactics, techniques and procedures was encouraged.

  • Intermediate Sniper Course- Florence PD
