Tactical Operations Conference TOC-07 22-26 October 2007 The Alabama Tactical Officers Association has wrapped up the Third Annual Tactical Operations Conference (TOC-07), 22-26 October, 2007. We had over 200 attendees take part in the various programs This year. Our hosts this year were Florence PD and Muscle Shoals PD. The men of the two agencies went above and beyond the call of duty to provide the Conference with safe, challenging Tournament events and training venues.

Sniper Workshop Florence SWAT Sniper Team
This 16 hour block covered various shooting positions, distances and equipment. SGT Rob Cook of the Lee County SWAT Team (Opelika PD) took the Top Gun award from the workshop. He was awarded a plaque and a data book provided by Tactical and Survival Specialties, Inc.
RBR Ballistic Shield Operator Paul Fishwick
This 8 hour block covered techniques for utilizing ballistic shields in SWAT & Patrol applications. The block served as an introduction for shield operators and instructor update for RBR Instructors. The block included a live-fire qualification, long gun use and performance prizes provided by RBR Tactical.
Tactical Breaching National security Associates Steve Matoon Florence PD Range

hour block was an overview of breaching utilizing explosive charges. Steve
Matoon of NSA brought his distinct instruction style to the attendees.
Surviving Deadly Force Encounters Combat Shooting/Self Defense Kevin Dillon
This block focused on weapons skills in close quarter encounters and hands-on techniques in a realistic hard hitting manner. Also covered were training techniques and the warrior ethos. This block received excellent reviews from the attendees.
2 Man Room Entry Workshop Muscle Shoals SWAT Team
This was a live-fire training event focusing on the skills required for the critical task of basic 2-man room entry. The emphasis was on safety, accuracy, sharing and fine tuning tactics.
Tactical Combat Casualty Care: What Every SWAT Operator Needs to Know DR John Croushorn, MD/Sean McKay Special Operations, Medical
If you wear body armor and carry a weapon for a living, you need this training. This block focused on the medical skill sets of individual officers and the new state of the art techniques and attitudes for dealing with injuries in a tactical environment. The instructors brought a new awareness to the students through the introduction of some radical methods of moving in, around and through buildings. This was the sleeper track of the conference, all attendees were stoked on the information given in this block. Look for this block in 2008.
Emergency Action Drills Ingress and Egress Robert Goodner Resolution Group, Inc.
This high energy block concentrated on immediate action drills for a deadly threats to officers in an open air or close quarters environment. The students did flat range drills and moved into the Florence PD Shoot House for close quarters work.
Functional Fitness for Tactical Officers & Vehicle Takedowns Steven

This block provided the tactical officer with different methods of physical training outside of the standard weight room. Flexibility, endurance and strength building exercises were covered in order to prepare the tactical officer for physical confrontation.
